Picatinny rails for Varberger 717

Our rails are precision-milled and fit specific rifle models.

Varberger 717 is a Swedish hunting rifle that still holds a loyal place among Scandinavian hunters. The model is available as MK I and MK II, and there can be differences in finish, details and previous mounting work on individual rifles. Therefore you should choose a rail based on the specific variant and not only the model name.

We offer Picatinny rails for Varberger 717 MK I and MK II. Always check the A/B/C measurements on your rifle before ordering.

Picatinny rails for Varberger 717

Varberger 717 is not a rifle you see in every gunshop today, but the model is still well known among many Swedish, Norwegian and Danish hunters. It is a classic Scandinavian hunting rifle, often chambered in practical calibres such as 6.5x55, .308 Win and .30-06. With a Picatinny rail the rifle is easier to use with modern scope mounts, red dot sights and night optics.

MK I and MK II

The Varberger 717 is available as MK I and MK II. The differences are mainly about the finish and details on the action and trigger, but older rifles can also be affected by wear, servicing or previous mounting. Therefore you should not choose a rail based on the model name alone. Always check the A/B/C measurements on your specific rifle before ordering.

Material: steel or aluminium

For a Varberger 717 used as a hunting rifle, 7075-T6 aluminium is an obvious choice if you want to keep the rifle light and practical. Steel with QPQ treatment is relevant if the rifle is used intensively, if the optics are heavy, or if you want maximum wear resistance in the mounting. See our guide to steel vs aluminium for Picatinny rails.

0 MOA or 10 MOA

The Varberger 717 is available with Picatinny rails in both 0 MOA and 10 MOA. For general hunting at short and medium ranges 0 MOA is usually the most obvious choice. 10 MOA gives more elevation in the riflescope and can be relevant if the rifle is used at longer ranges or for range shooting. See our article on MOA tilt on Picatinny rails.

Night optics and flexible setups

A Picatinny rail makes it easier to use the same mounting standard across multiple rifles. It is especially useful with clip-on devices, thermal optics and digital night optics. A conventional riflescope should as a rule be checked and often re-zeroed after being moved, while many digital units can store multiple profiles and are therefore easier to move between rifles.

Mounting

Clean the contact surfaces and threads before mounting. Use a small amount of suitable threadlocker, and tighten the screws evenly according to the manufacturer's recommendation. See our guide to mounting a Picatinny rail.
